Hello!
I’m Michaela, the founder of well+aligned, a K–12 education training and consulting firm based in Arizona. I specialize in supporting Title I schools to strengthen their academic systems, teaching training and coaching processes, and initiatives for: early literacy, MTSS, and multilingual learners. I also work nationally as a professional learning facilitator for LETRS, where I provide training for educators across the country on the Science of Reading and best practices in literacy instruction. I firmly believe that literacy is a civil right for all students.
With 16 years of experience as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, trainer, and academic director, I specialize in designing professional learning experiences that are both authentic and purposeful. My work centers on helping educators and leaders align strong pedagogy with meaningful practice, so that adult learning directly translates into better outcomes for students. Along the way, we have a lot of fun!
In addition to my work in schools, I’m a certified social emotional learning facilitator and trauma-informed yoga instructor (RYT 200) - a combination that shapes how I approach growth, resilience, and well-being in education.
I live in Phoenix, Arizona with my husband Brad and our dog Penny. When I’m not in schools or at training sites, you can find me drinking way too much coffee, hiking, or stargazing.
“If we want authentic and long-term school improvement, it’s time to HONOR AND center educators by providing professional development that BUILDS ON existing talents, strengths, and values.”
